I have been following #lgovsm for quite some time, though I didn't manage to participate in many of the scheduled chats as I'm not generally online 8:30pm most evenings.

I felt guilty posting comments outside the usual times as that seemed to breach the house rules, though I have always found it a valuable source of knowledge and expert opinion.

I welcome the continuing evolution of #lgovsm and broadening of its usage outside the prearranged time-slot.

Thanks for being such a fine host, Tom, and thanks also to everyone who has helped make #lgovsm the valuable resource it has become.

Tom, you've clearly put thought into this step and as someone who has found great worth from #lgovsm discussions in the past I'd always support you.

I think it's sad but understandable.

For my part, Tuesday nights is one night of the work where family comes first with the run to cubs and putting the children into bed. I'm largely offline at this time of day.

But there is real value in keeping use for the hashtag and for one-off discussions.

What #lgovsm proves absolutely is that people do care about local government, are happy to share and don't mind contributing when they can. Even if they struggle to be at an appointed time for an hour.

Like a good unconference, some sessions flew and some didn't. But I don't think we should use the yardstick that some didn't.

As it evolves, I think thanks are due as we take a different track to the people who got us to this point, shared, cajoled and encouraged. So thanks Lou, James, John, to you Tom and to those who have hosted or contributed.

Hi Tom

I definitely benefit from training in a group. You get a routine and a sense of where you are relative to others, though that has a risk that you don't push yourself if someone you expect to be ahead beats you in training, or you beat yourself up for losing in training to someone having a good day when you're tired, and it all happens much quicker and more often than if you're encountering them in an occasional race.

Sorry to hear that you probably will not compete in San Sebastian.
For what it's worth, I also had a painful foot that took a lot of false diagnoses before I found a solution.
